TACKLING TOXICS: THE CHEMICAL CLASS APPROACH TOWARDS HEALTHIER PRODUCTS AND MATERIALS

Rather than addressing the tens of thousands of chemicals in the market one at a time, the chemical class approach educates manufacturers, retailers, and consumers about chemical families containing many of the hazardous substances commonly found in consumer products.  With this information, better choices of chemicals to be used in products can be made, regrettable substitutions avoided, and human and ecological health protected.

This talk is part of the UC Berkeley Environmental Engineering seminar series.
